City Petals
Created in 2016 in collaboration with Hannah Mason, City Petals premiered at Sadler’s Wells Lillian Baylis theatre with Maquette, an emerging choreographer’s platform, performed by Sharol Mackenzie and Edd Arnold,
City Petals explores artistic connection and expresses the nuanced ideas of city life vs nature. It sensitively portrays the shift in energy outputted in a city environment by people and machines, often weighed down by a sense of heaviness. The piece examines how individuals can fall into material traps in pursuit of happiness, only to realise its fleeting nature too late.
And how this can inspire us artistically to move in the other direction. It explores a shift towards rediscovering the innate connections between humanity and nature, with the hope of leading towards a shared strive to output positive energy frequencies.
Later in 2017 the work was presented at TEDx Brayford Pool where Hannah and Edd delivered a talk sharing insights into their creative process alongside a live performance.

"Edd was a calm presence in the studio, challenges gently and knows what he is looking for but also open to collaboration. He is a great duet partner!"
